Observed on July 21, Black Women’s Equal Pay Day marks how far into the year Black women must work to earn what white men earned in the previous year. But the day is about more than the wage gap. It demonstrates the structural barriers that continue to limit economic opportunity, financial security, and wealth-building for Black women and their families. Co-authored by Maven Collaborative and GCPI, this piece explores those barriers and the policy changes needed to build an economy that works for everyone.
